It was a great day for St Mawes as well as petrol heads last Thursday 5th May as a collection of fantastic classic cars parked on the quay in St Mawes before parading through the narrow streets as well as along the waterfront and past the Castle. The Concours d' Elegance was organised to raise funds for Childrens Hospice South West and sponsored by H Tiddy Estate Agents, Bonhams and Thienot Champagne.
Some of the gorgeous cars in the festival this year included the astonishing 1953 #Ferrari 250MM Carrera Panamerica, brought to St Mawes by Pink Floyd's Nick Mason, a Fraser Nash 4.3 and a 1957 'pontoon' Ferrari Testarossa V12, which wowed the crowds and well as winning the Concours’ as Best Overall Car.
Mark Willson, Managing Director of H Tiddy said: “The festival is growing in popularity year on year. We have been delighted to be involved as sponsors for four years now and this year, in my opinion, was certainly one of the most enjoyable. The weather was on its best behaviour, the tide was in and the atmosphere from the crowd and live music was excellent.”
Mark went on to say “apart from the beautiful waterside setting, the wonderful thing about the St Mawes Car Festival is that enthusiasts can literally get right up close to the classic cars as well as bump into and talk to a number of famous faces. BBC Radio Cornwall turned up this year and were enthused from having an enjoyable afternoon by asking their listeners the next day to phone in with what would their dream car be?”
